Sheffield Hy-Express Peptone I
Sheffield Hy-Express Peptone I is a soluble enzymatic digest of animal free components. Our studies show that it is a very good alternative to animal based peptones like the casein hydrolysates traditionally used in recombinant protein expression in E. coli. To maximize growth rate during the growth phase it is advisable to use the Hy-Express Peptone in combination with yeast extract (for instance our Hy-Yest™503). A 33.3% yeast extract and 66.6 % Hy-Express Peptone ratio would be a good start and will work well for both growth and production phase. A logical next step to optimize the whole production run would be using different ratio’s of peptone and yeast extract, for example, more yeast extract for extra growth and less during the expression phase to boost product yield.
